Rev. Dr. Steven Voytovich has diverse work experience in a variety of leadership roles. Fr. Steven is the Rector of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in New Haven, and the founding Director of the Office of Institutional Chaplains at the Orthodox Church in America. Fr. Steven served as the Chair of the COMISS Network, a national round table for pastoral care and counseling, and before his appointment as Chancellor served as the Dean of the CT Deanery in our Diocese, serving as administrator for several vacant parishes. Fr. Steven also served as the Dean of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Seminary (2013-2018) and played a key role in its successful re-accreditation review. Steven previously served as the Rector of St. Alexis Orthodox Church, from its founding as a mission through the consecration of the present church.
Additionally, as a certified CPE Supervisor/Educator, he worked as the Director of Clinical Pastoral Education at Episcopal Health Services, overseeing an international program and leading a successful accreditation review, and the Director of Pastoral Care and Education at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, following his service as the first Hospital Chaplain at Norwalk Hospital where he built a chaplaincy training program.
Fr. Steven has an extensive education history. He completed a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Minnesota in 1986 with an Information System Design and Development Certificate. At St. Vladimir’s Seminary, Fr. Steven completed a Master of Divinity Degree (1990), and a Master of Arts (MA) Degree with a focus on Liturgical Music (1991). He returned to the seminary to complete a Doctor of Ministry Degree (1999). His Dissertation topic was: “Orthodoxy and CPE: Education for Ministry Beyond the Liturgical Setting."
Fr. Steven attended Fairfield University, completing a Master of Arts (MA) in Community Counseling in 2005. In 2007, he became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the State of Connecticut. Since 2018 he has held a certification in Telemental Health from the Center for Credentialing & Education.
